From severe depression, to launching a positive mental health movement, this is my story:

When I lay crumpled and broken on my kitchen floor five years ago; I never dreamed I would one day be experiencing my life-long goal of living and writing in Bali. Depression had completely and utterly ravaged me. I lost all hope and became almost catatonic at times. My two children are my absolute world; yet depression had me believing that they would be better off without me.

It has taken many years of hard work and support to get my life back on track; but I am now in good health; and living my life-long dream of writing full time while living in Bali. I have dedicated myself to spreading positive mental health messaging through this blog website.

This blog covers topics from travel and mindfulness; to anxiety and depression. My goal is to create a movement where it's ok to talk openly about what's going on inside. Where it's ok if you're not perfect, or don't have your shit together. A movement where the focus is on savouring all of life's little moments, and centering your attention on the here and now.

A movement that encourages you to just keep going; even when all you want to do is lie down and give up.

I am living proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I've had to claw my way back to wellness; but it is possible, and it is worth it. It had always been my dream to live in Bali and write. If I hadn't stuck around I would never be experiencing this beautiful life that I am currently living.

I want to remove the stigma that surrounds mental illness by showing that depression isn't a weakness or something embarrassing that you have to 'admit' to having. It isn't a failing or a personality flaw. It is simply a human experience.

1 in 5 people will get depression in their lifetime. I want people to know that they are not alone.

Through this blog I have just released a line of 'grounding' bracelets. These bracelets are a great 'grounding' tool to use to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. They have also been designed for anybody to wear (not just sufferers) as a visual display of solidarity and support for those dealing with mental health issues.

$1 from the sale of each bracelet goes to a mental health organisation. I pick a different one to support each month; so if you know of any great organisations doing wonderful work in your community that need support, please let me know about them.

If you would like to find out more about me, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I would love to hear from you!
